Further proof that I am a commercial writer stuck in a literary writer's mind...
I was contemplating music--GOOD music--and the fact that good music is very much like a good story. There is tension, rising action, conflict, a climax, and a resolution. So, good music is storytelling.
Then, I thought about the flipside of that. A good story has to have musicality. If it doesn't, it just is blah-blah-blah, fact-fact-fact, info dump.
